About Bruce
After retiring from the NBA, Bruce worked for ESPN from 2010-2017 as an NBA analyst. He then embarked on a new journey as a coach, coaching TMI Episcopal High School from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, he led the team to two state championship appearances, one of which they won in double overtime.
Bruce’s coaching experience extends beyond high school. Since 2015, he has also been coaching in corporate settings, providing tools and resources to enhance knowledge, improve skills, and ultimately lead to higher job satisfaction and increased productivity in the workplace.
Bruce had the privilege of being mentored and coached by some NBA Hall of Famers, including Pat Riley. His attention to detail was crucial in intense moments, and his ability to prepare his players for opponents’ strengths and weaknesses was unparalleled. This is a key component of accountability. Just as preparation is vital in life, it’s equally important in the workplace.
According to Bruce, Gregg Popovich is the best teacher he’s has ever had. His ability to simplify complex concepts is a gift that Bruce will forever incorporate into my coaching philosophy. With Pop, Bruce could fly under the radar, which allowed me to continuously improve in the realm of teamwork and accountability. By not worrying about others’ actions and focusing on his own role, Bruce discovered a process for achieving his goals. The more teams recognize that success requires hard work, the more opportunities they have to build and sustain strong foundations.
